The Founding of Islam by the Roman Catholic Church?

The following Adventist(?) video's thesis is that the Roman Church instigated the founding of Islam, for the purpose of mitigating or destroying the Catholic's Christian competition from the foundational days. This competition would have been known by various names, including the Nazoreans and Arians, who were non-Trinitarians, and did not even believe that Jesus was divine.

It is baldly asserted here, and one can find this controversial claim elsewhere, that Mohammed's first wife, Khadijah, was a Roman Catholic. What adds some meat to the bone is the comparison of symbols, especially the Sun Disc inside the Crescent Moon, which the video shows Pope Francis using ritually. The video shows this symbology in many other Catholic contexts, especially Jesuit. It shows this symbol also heavily used in pagan contexts, but failed to show that the Roman legions would also carry it before them. It shows how the name Allah is connected to the Sun and Moon.

The presenter then discusses the notion of this as a Hegelian Dialectic, in other words, Divide and Conquer. And then goes onto compare historical Vatican policy towards Islam, and discusses the notion of thee exoteric Church and Islam with their esoteric versions, for example, the Templars and the Assassins (an elite group of the Ismaili Shiites). He also then links the Catholic Fatima Prophecies to Muhammed's daughter, Fatima.

This notion of creating such a controlled opposition, is much like my notion of the foundation purpose of Judaism was for earlier, and the cynical creation of the phony Reformation later on.

It seems that the story of Khadijah being Catholic came from Alberto Rivera, a former Jesuit turned Protestant:

In the Vatican briefing, Cardinal Bea told us this story:

A wealthy Arabian lady who was a faithful follower of the pope played a tremendous part in this drama. She was a widow named Khadijah. She gave her wealth to the church and retired to a convent, but was given an assignment.

She was to find a brilliant young man who could be used by the Vatican to create a new religion and become the messiah for the children of Ishmael.

Khadijah had a cousin named Waraquah, who was also a very faithful Roman Catholic, and the Vatican placed him in a critical role as Muhammad's advisor. He had tremendous influence on Muhammad.

Teachers were sent to young Muhammad and he had intensive training. Muhammad studied the works of St. Augustine, which prepared him for his "great calling". The Vatican had Catholic Arabs across North Africa spread the story of a great one who was about to rise up among the people and be the chosen one of their God.

While Muhammad was being prepared, he was told that his enemies were the Jews and that the only true Christians were Roman Catholic. He was taught that others calling themselves Christians were actually wicked impostors and should be destroyed. Many Muslims believe this.

Muhammad began receiving "divine revelations" and his wife's Catholic cousin Waraquah helped interpret them. From this came the Koran. In the fifth year of Muhammad's mission, persecution came against his followers because they refused to worship the idols in the Kaaba.

Muhammad instructed some of them to flee to Abysinnia, where Negus, the Roman Catholic king, accepted them because Muhammad's views on the virgin Mary were so close to Roman Catholic doctrine. These Muslims received protection from Catholic kings because of Muhammad's revelations.

Muhammad later conquered Mecca and the Kaaba was cleared of idols.

History proves that before Islam came into existence, the Sabeans in Arabia worshiped the moon-god who was married to the sun-god. They gave birth to three goddesses, who were worshipped throughout the Arab world as "Daughters of Allah". An idol excavated at Hazor in Palestine in the 1950s shows Allah sitting on a throne with the crescent moon on his chest. ...

The Sabeans mentioned above were from the area now known as Yemen, and controlled the world trade in frankincense. I believe they were related to the Sabeans of Harran, where Abraham's father is supposed to have ended up. The tutelary god of Harran was Sin, the Moon god. I also believe these same Sabeans were the elite tribe of the Romans, the Sabines. The Quran, lists Sabeans along with the Christians and Jews as being so-called Peoples of the Book.

The Wikipedia wisdom is that Cousin Waraquah was not a Catholic, but rather a Nestorian priest. The Nestorian sect seems to have arisen out of some sort of compromise between disputing Christological factions in the early Eastern Orthodox church. Edessa, near Harran, was an educational center for the sect during the years from ~451 to 489 CE.

Barbiero's account of the schism between the Roman Church and the Eastern Orthodox is that it was contrived for political purposes, much like my assertion about the Reformation's contrived arguments about about salvation by grace versus works and Predestination of the Elect. BTW, now that the 'ecumenical' death knell is ringing for mainline Protestantism, the RCC is quietly admitting it was wrong.

As such it would make sense for the Roman Church to use a Nestorian cut-out to provide deniability.

Jonathan Gray makes various claims about archaeological finds which he can't document because he sold his camera to buy ammunition (??) and then turns to a discussion of Biblical prophecy and creationism. He says that Islam is portrayed in Biblical prophecy as a locust infestation. Finally, starting at about 33:00, he discusses his theory that Islam was created by the Vatican. Here's my transcript (tweaked from the Google machine generated version):

...the Vatican actually created Islam. The Vatican saw the powers that were out beyond its control... taken over Europe during the Dark Ages and saw powers that were beyond its control in Africa and the Middle East. Christian powers that would not Bend the Knee to Rome. So it said, what can we do with this, okay? Here are these wild Arab tribes. Why don't we unite them; give them a mission to fulfill; give them a leader; give them a prophet; and then tell them to go and take North Africa, and take the Middle East, and then hand Jerusalem over to us. So Mohammed was was actually tutored. He had a Roman priest to help him; he was given a Roman wife; he had a daughter called Fatima. Now that may ring a bell: Fatima? Oh yeah. And he was then told to go out and conquer, and get rid of all those who were not subservient to the Vatican, and then hand Jerusalem over to us.
We've discussed this before, so I'm merging with the other thread.

Whatever the case, Jerry, it's pretty neato that Jesus will rule no matter which Abrahamic religion wins the apocalypse eh? Maybe we can can keep Santa Claus and Christmas after all? Maybe just have to give up the ham dinner for something else. Wouldn't it be funny if Santa Claus was the Hidden Imam, or the Mahdi?

This sounds like an investigation case for the XP-Files.

Hi Loren, the issue is whether the Pike prophecies were written in 1871 by Pike as claimed, or whether they were written sometime in the early 1950's by a hoaxer.

Even as a prophecy of WWIII written after WWII, it's very perceptive.
