Spiritual Sight and Blindness

“…For God had blinded their minds for the transgressions they had been guilty of, nor could they see how much greater forces the Romans had {almighty God;} than those that were now expelled, no more than they could discern how a famine was creeping upon them…”
Josephus, Wars of the Jews, Book V, 8:2

And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind. And some of the Pharisees which were with him heard these words, and said unto him, Are we blind also? Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth.”

I don't really see a connection. I think John is meant to work with Acts and other books of the NT and Roman literature besides besides the Synoptic gospels and Jewish War. It seems the 3 Synoptic gospels were completed under Titus and the rest under Domitian and Trajan.
