Perhaps Trump was doomed to play the final act of Samson, after all, as Samson brought down the temple but killed himself in the process. Was the attack on the Capitol the last straw, and he thus killed himself politically? To me, this also brings to mind the end of the last Flavian Emperor Domitian, who, like Trump, was the object of a personality cult, and was succeeded by the very old Nerva (Biden), and a return to "normalcy".

I see him as King Lear, wandering on the heath. A vain, reckless, unaccountable ruler, addicted to false flattery, who progressively loses his mind as his former allies conspire against him.
