1 - No inappropriate content
By content we mean anything that you publish on this website, for example posts, signatures, in photos or in private messages.
Inappropriate content includes but is not limited to that which is:
- Of pornographic nature, and without any redeeming value to the site's purposes
- Offensive to any specific group of people, or to a general audience
- Hateful or Threatening
- Invasive of a person’s privacy
- spamming or irrelevant advertising
Well-grounded and contextualized criticisms of the policies, doctrines, beliefs, and actions of specific groups are permitted, and also encouraged. Unbiased factual analysis is not offensive. However, blanket generalizations are seldom accurate, and can easily be offensive. We believe that most people are better than their creeds, and everyone is innocent until proven guilty.
In general, the criterion is whether the content is inherently offensive, not whether someone might be offended.
2 - No personal attacks or abusive behavior
Each and every member on this forum has a right to be treated with dignity and respect. The following behavior is not acceptable:
- Personal attacks: Any insulting or abusive behavior that is directed at a specific person.
- Bullying (flaming): Repeated abuse towards another member, this could be undertaken by one member or a number of members.
- Instigating (trolling): Repeatedly provoking a member with the goal of getting an irrational response from them. Or, content consisting of unsupported assertions, speculations, or opinions, which are deemed to be gratuitously inciting acrimony, rather than promoting sincere dialogue and mutual understanding.
- Comment bombardment: replying by posting an excessive volume of marginally relevant content.
However, any member who is attacked in such a fashion, shall have the right to reply with an analysis of the personal shortcomings of the attacker.
3 - Appropriate quoting, and respect of copyright
If you wish to share content from another website or other source, please summarize it in your own words, quote it as briefly as possible to make your point, and provide a hyper-link or other bibliographical information. It is seldom appropriate to mirror content from other sources here without the owners' permission.
4 - Miscellaneous
- Editing: forum members may edit their comments for up to two hours after the original posting. After that time, user editing is disabled, and members must contact the administrator and request that their content be edited. In general, we discourage such late edits, except as necessary to comply with the site rules and policies.
- No duplicate accounts.
- Respect the staff and their decisions: We are here to do a job which we do to the best of our ability. Any threads or posts questioning the decisions of staff will be removed on sight; if you have a problem with the actions of a staff member then discussing it with them via private message is the correct way to deal with it.
If you come across any posts which break these rules please do not hesitate to let us know.
If we find posts that violate the rules, we will do our best to edit them as minimally as possible to eliminate the violation, and to leave a notice that this has been done. However, we also reserve the right to delete such posts in their entirety, and/or to warn or ban the poster.
