FORUM RULES

1 - No inappropriate content

By content we mean anything that you publish on this website, for example posts, signatures, in photos or in private messages.

Inappropriate content includes but is not limited to that which is:

- Of pornographic nature, and without any redeeming value to the site's purposes
- Offensive to any specific group of people, or to a general audience
- Hateful or Threatening
- Invasive of a person’s privacy
- spamming or irrelevant advertising

Well-grounded and contextualized criticisms of the policies, doctrines, beliefs, and actions of specific groups are permitted, and also encouraged. Unbiased factual analysis is not offensive. However, blanket generalizations are seldom accurate, and can easily be offensive. We believe that most people are better than their creeds, and everyone is innocent until proven guilty.

In general, the criterion is whether the content is inherently offensive, not whether someone might be offended.

2 - No personal attacks or abusive behavior

Each and every member on this forum has a right to be treated with dignity and respect. The following behavior is not acceptable:

- Personal attacks: Any insulting or abusive behavior that is directed at a specific person.
- Bullying (flaming): Repeated abuse towards another member, this could be undertaken by one member or a number of members.
- Instigating (trolling): Repeatedly provoking a member with the goal of getting an irrational response from them. Or, content consisting of unsupported assertions, speculations, or opinions, which are deemed to be gratuitously inciting acrimony, rather than promoting sincere dialogue and mutual understanding.
- Comment bombardment: replying by posting an excessive volume of marginally relevant content.

However, any member who is attacked in such a fashion, shall have the right to reply with an analysis of the personal shortcomings of the attacker.

3 - Appropriate quoting, and respect of copyright

If you wish to share content from another website or other source, please summarize it in your own words, quote it as briefly as possible to make your point, and provide a hyper-link or other bibliographical information. It is seldom appropriate to mirror content from other sources here without the owners' permission.

4 - Miscellaneous

- Editing: forum members may edit their comments for up to two hours after the original posting. After that time, user editing is disabled, and members must contact the administrator and request that their content be edited. In general, we discourage such late edits, except as necessary to comply with the site rules and policies.
- No duplicate accounts.
- Respect the staff and their decisions: We are here to do a job which we do to the best of our ability. Any threads or posts questioning the decisions of staff will be removed on sight; if you have a problem with the actions of a staff member then discussing it with them via private message is the correct way to deal with it.

If you come across any posts which break these rules please do not hesitate to let us know.

If we find posts that violate the rules, we will do our best to edit them as minimally as possible to eliminate the violation, and to leave a notice that this has been done. However, we also reserve the right to delete such posts in their entirety, and/or to warn or ban the poster.

SITE POLICIES & DISCLAIMER

At this site, we are discussing highly controversial political, religious and cultural topics. However, we are trying to do this in a sensitive, considerate manner. The content posted to the front page (Wordpress) site is intended to follow the same rules as we have posted above for the discussion forum.

Views and comments expressed on this website, and on the forum, reflect only the views of their authors. Items may also be imperfectly expressed or intended to express humor or irony, whether appropriately or inappropriately; and may be subject to misinterpretation, such that they might not actually represent even the views of the authors.

We make no warranty as to the correctness, accuracy, completeness, timeliness, or reliability of anything on the site, nor do we guarantee the ongoing availability of the site, or that our software and content are free of viruses.

Having said all that: we try to do the best we can to live up to our ideals. If you see something here that seems inappropriate or offensive or inaccurate, please let us know. We aim to relate non-adversarially, with dignity and respect, to everyone.

Materials on the site may be edited, replaced or upgraded at any time, without notice.

Some posts and/or pages on this site contain copyrighted material whose use has not been specifically authorized by the copyright owner. We are making this material available as part of our effort to advance human rights, economic and political democracy, social justice, and inter-religious dialogue. We believe this constitutes a ‘fair use’ of the copyrighted materials. Please notify us if you are an owner of copyrighted materials posted to this website, and you feel we have gone beyond fair use.

Although I am a "newbie", I would like to suggest an expansion of the forum topics to include "Economics" as this seems to be the mechanism of power in modern societies, and of course is not always "fair", but difficult to translate to a personal meaning. It is something that I did not study when younger, but as I age continually amazes me, Afterall the Federal reserve system and creation of money processes are not covered well in public education..and there is a distinct chance that economics and its day to day implications might become increasingly important in the future...for the 99+% who can not get zero interests loans...straight from the Fed. I also find that during my lifetime, concepts like democracy, nationalism, community etc have all been devalued relative to being a$$$ billionaire.
.Ever since Jesus, there have been very few poor powerful people.so to speak.except maybe in Heaven....and I might add there is a lot of historical evidence the major mechanisms of colonialism, involve economic ideas such as currency manipulation. in addition to questions of how economic considerations, like the value of the dollar, define political actions, given that overall, US foriegn policy has been somewhat enigmatic if considered from an independent do unto others hypothetical type morality.

And of course, another general topic which perhaps only I am interested in is Health/Medicine, which I am not sure fits under either science or technology....

What about new topic bombardment? It could be linked to donation amount. No donation per month = limit of new topics per month.

I wouldn't want our content to be influenced by donations. I've been merging some of the 'new' topics with pre-existing topics, and I'll do more of that.

As discussed earlier, also, the policy on 'no personal attacks or abusive behavior' has been modified to allow limited ad hominem replies to personal abuse. This is still not recommended, but some of these exchanges include some interesting content, and I'm tired of trying to decide when people have crossed the line.
